The iconic Chinese junk boat, aqualuna, brings the ultimate nautical experience to Hong Kong’s shores with the introduction of the Pirate’s Lunch Package and free entry to the Hong Kong Maritime Museum for visitors to the Harbour Discovery Tour – the city’s only hop-on/hop-off cruise experience.
The aqualuna, a beautiful 28-metre traditional red mast junk, has become one of Hong Kong’s icons for tourists and locals alike.
The hop-on/hop-off weekday tour is unique to the city, with a single ticket offering visitors an unlimited 1 day travel pass which includes all travel to famed sites and historical locations.
Doing a circuit of the harbour every hour, with collection points at Central, Wanchai, Hung Hom and Tsim Sha Tsui, boat-goers can jump off and jump back on, at any time, to experience the city from both land and sea.
The traditional junk boat nods to the region’s eventful maritime history with its Chinese name of ‘Cheung Po Tsai’, inspired by the famous 19th-century pirate. To celebrate its heritage, the aqualuna will now offer Harbour Discovery Tour guests the added experience of enjoying traditional dim sum onboard the striking 1,500 square foot vessel. Available from August – October, the Pirate’s Lunch encompasses a traditional dim sum lunch basket and non-alcoholic pirate punch refreshments. The promotional price of this package is HKD$78 per person and runs from August – October.
In addition to the lunch package, guests can now avail of complimentary admission to the Hong Kong Maritime Museum upon presentation of a Harbour Discovery Tour ticket. Based at Central Pier No. 8, the Hong Kong Maritime Museum offers special talks as well as diverse and interactive exhibitions from ‘Sounds of the Sea’ to ‘Sea Bandits’ and ‘The China Trade’ to ‘Creating Victoria Harbour’ – an ideal nautical treat to round-off the aqualuna tour.
To help visitors get the most from the tour, aqualuna’s experienced sailors are on-hand to introduce the boats heritage as well as tell some tales from the high seas. Each guest also receives a complimentary Harbour Discovery Tour guidebook with hints and tips on the must-see-sights.
The Harbour Discovery Tour runs from 12pm – 5pm, Monday to Friday. The ‘Harbour Discovery Tour’ stops at Tsim Sha Tsui, Pier, in front of the Cultural Centre, Pier 9 in Central next to Star Ferry, Wanchai’s Convention and Exhibition Centre and Hung Hom public pier.
