A Close shave at Helloworld Travel
Two brave staff from AOT Inbound took the plunge and shaved off their locks this week to help beat blood cancer!
The Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave is now 20 years old, and remains one of Australia’s biggest fundraising events. Anita Freitag and Ottilie Puijk, both members of the AOT Inbound FIT Reservations team took part in the annual activity to raise vital funding for research to help more people survive blood cancers and to also provide families facing the battle with practical support.
Anita, who had been personally affected by Blood Cancer with her son being diagnosed at age 5 in 2015 and who is now in remission, was the inspiration for the shave-off with Ottilie joining the pledge and also donating her long locks to help create wigs for cancer patients.
The great shave was supported by the HLO Normanby Road Social Club in South Melbourne, organising a “Better than Bunnings” sausage sizzle to raise more money for the cause. The duo raised over $2,000 for the cause through online pledges and donations.
