Mountain Travel SobekThe Outbound Collective & Mountain Travel Sobek announce exclusive partnership

Mountain Travel Sobek (MT Sobek) and The Outbound Collective have joined together in an exclusive partnership naming MT Sobek as the official adventure travel partner for The Outbound, and The Outbound as the premier community platform for MT Sobek to share adventure travel information online.

Known for its high adventure and unique global destinations, Emeryville-based MT Sobek is “The Adventure Company” opening up little-known corners of the world to exploration since 1969. MT Sobek’s commitment to expanding the world of adventure to all travel enthusiasts first began with commercial treks to Nepal and has continued with a long record of epic first descents, country entries, and mountain ascents.

The Outbound, a website and iOS app, is the industry’s fastest growing online travel platform dedicated to helping everyday people discover the best outdoor adventures and to plan their travel. Each month, more than 1.2 million people rely on The Outbound to search for the best hikes, campsites, after-work runs, waterfalls, swimming holes and vistas. Content is crowd-sourced from its engaged community of outdoor enthusiasts and travelers.

“By launching programs linked with MT Sobek’s 50 years of adventure travel experience, we’re able to provide greater expertise and visibility to our Outbound community when they’re searching for a destination, activity, or tips for their next excursion,” said Brian Heifferon, CEO of The Outbound. “This partnership with MT Sobek allows us to not only create and share new inspirational content, but to also offer fully curated and vetted expeditions for people to participate with a legendary adventure industry leader. We couldn’t be more excited.”

With the announcement of the partnership, influencers (Explorers) from The Outbound will be participating in MT Sobek adventures, organizing co-branded outings and events, and featuring MT Sobek’s adventure content across The Outbound’s various channels.  MT Sobek will also take part in The Outbound’s popular Pursuit Series events by providing expertise on international adventure travel to The Outbound community through blog posts, trip introductions, gear kits, guide profiles, and more.

“We’re thrilled to be teaming up with The Outbound Collective,” said Kimberly Daley, President and CEO of MT Sobek. “The combination of MT Sobek’s deep adventure travel expertise and The Outbound’s ability to document and promote these amazing experiences will help inspire millions of outdoor and travel enthusiasts to explore new adventure activities, travel further, and immerse in cultures and adventures beyond their imagination.”

In July, two Outbound explorers will join MT Sobek adventures: Rafting the Alsek River in Alaska & Canada and Hiking the John Muir Trail.  Each Explorer will capture their adventures via film and prose to share with both companies’ online communities. More Explorers will be participating in additional trips throughout the partnership.
