Hawaiian Airlines had the airline industry’s #1 ranking for on-time performance of its flights during the month of March, as reported by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) with its monthly Air Travel Consumer Report.
Hawaiian led the nation’s carriers in punctuality in March with 88.4 percent of its flights arriving as scheduled. Hawaiian also ranked third overall in fewest cancelled flights with 0.4 percent, or 23 cancellations out of 5,617 total flights.
The DOT’s report for March shows that for the first quarter of 2011, Hawaiian ranked second nationally for fewest oversales, or passengers denied boarding, at 0.12 percent for every 10,000 passengers carried, and third for fewest consumer complaints at 0.62 percent, representing 13 complaints versus 2.1 million passengers.
Hawaiian Airlines is the largest provider of air service to Hawaii from the Western U.S., as well as the leading carrier for interisland service between the islands of Hawaii.
