More than 5,000 leaders from the global theme park and attractions industry will travel to the Sands Expo and Convention Centre at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore for Asian Attractions Expo 2013 (AAE 2013), the premier exhibition and conference for the attractions industry in Asia. During the event industry professionals will see new ride concepts and innovative new products, learn about industry trends, discuss hot topics, and share best practices with other industry professionals. The event is only open to attractions industry professionals and credentialed press. It is not open to the general public. Asian Attractions Expo is owned and produced by the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA).
Exhibition Hall to Showcase What’s New in the Attractions Industry
More than 3,000 owners and managers from theme parks, water parks, zoos, aquariums, museums, family entertainment centers, casinos, and resorts in 60 countries around the world are expected to participate in AAE 2013. They will walk the 6,000-square-meter exhibition hall to meet with representatives from approximately 250 companies that will display a wide variety of products and services, including theme park rides, motion and virtual-reality simulators; video, skill, and competition games; architectural and design services; theatrical production services; food and beverage innovations; water park slides; and much more.

Ocean Park Hong Kong CEO Tom Mehrmann to Present Keynote Address
Tom Mehrmann, CEO of Ocean Park Hong Kong, will deliver a keynote address for AAE 2013 during the Leadership Breakfast on 6 June. Mehrmann will provide insights on leadership and discuss the traits and core values he draws on to produce successful projects, inspire productive teams, and manage profitable attractions.
Education Program Provides Business-Building Ideas for Newcomers and Seasoned Veterans
The conference program at AAE 2013 will feature thought-provoking educational sessions on new attractions opening in Asia, generating marketing buzz through social media, the importance of designing and operating attractions to appeal to families, the role of storytelling in traveling exhibits, developing an effective corporate social responsibility program, using brands in attractions, understanding how a business strategy should incorporate local culture, and motivating employees. The sessions will be led by executives from Legoland Malaysia, Enchanted Kingdom in the Philippines, Sentosa Leisure Group and Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore, Science North and Ontario Science Center in Canada, and the Dalian Wanda Group and Shanghai Disneyland Resort in China.
AAE Institute Programs Provide In-Depth Learning Opportunities
A two-and-a-half-day IAAPA Institute for Attractions Managers, 2-4 June, offers attendees the ability to deepen their understanding of how the attractions industry operates across five core discipline areas: finance, revenue operations, safety, marketing, and human resources. The Institute faculty comes from leading attractions companies in Asia, Australia, and the United States.
The daylong IAAPA Safety Institute will take place 4 June and provide participants with an overview of The Amusement Rides Safety Act in Singapore, ASTM International industry safety standards, safety maintenance and best practices, risk management, safety in adventure attractions, and the importance of developing a company culture focused on safety.
Industry Professionals will Tour World-Class Attractions in the Region
Several events and programs at area attractions will provide firsthand learning experiences for AAE participants. On 4 June, attendees will network and share ideas as they experience a pre-Expo tour of Legoland Malaysia and Sanrio Hello Kitty Town, the Little Big Club, and Lat’s Place – part of the Puteri Harbour Family Theme Parks. The official AAE Opening Night Event takes place at the new, multi-attraction Marine Life Park at Resorts World Sentosa on 5 June. Reception attendees will make business connections while experiencing the new S.E.A. Aquarium, one of the world’s largest oceanariums, and the Adventure Cove Waterpark. AAE also features a Young Professionals Forum on 6 June that enables attractions industry professionals under the age of 35 to meet one another, establish business relationships, and learn from industry veterans from Great Wolf Resorts in the United States and ProFun Management Group in the United Arab Emirates. On 7 June, Universal Studios Singapore will open exclusively to AAE 2013 participants before guests arrive for a behind-the-scenes tour of the park’s newest additions, “Transformers The Ride: The Ultimate 3D Battle” and “Sesame Street: Spaghetti Space Chase.”
AAE 2013 networking opportunities continue after the Expo with the post-Expo tour of Bali Safari and Marine Park in Indonesia, 8-10 June. The tour will provide an in-depth look into the park's mission of conservation, education, and recreation. Participants will experience shows and guided tours and view more than 50 animal species, including Sumatran elephants, Sumatran tigers, white tigers, leopards, and cheetahs.
