The Taj Group welcome Premier Li Keqiang of the Peoples Republic of China

The Taj Group is honoured and privileged to welcome the Premier Li Keqiang of the Peoples Republic of China and his delegation on their official visit to India.  The Taj Mahal Palace Mumbai  hosted His Excellency, the Premier of China Li Keqiang of the Peoples Republic of China along with his entourage from May 21 to May 22, 2013.

The team at The Taj Mahal Palace Mumbai welcomed the Premier Li Keqiang an ethnic Indian ceremony complete with the auspicious aarti, tikka and garlanding along with the melodious tunes of the sitar and tabla introducing him to the country’s rich culture.

Premier of China Li Keqiang was fascinated by the façade of the hotel and was delighted by the quintessential Taj service.

During his stay in Mumbai Premier Li Keqiang resided at the acclaimed ‘Tata Suite’, a unique expression of splendour and sophistication, which has played host to eminent personalities across the globe including President Barack Obama, President Hollande, President Sarkozy, Tom Cruise among many others. As part of the customised preparation for the Premier, 13 dedicated staff members catered to his every need, ensuring a taste of royal living – a luxury and extravagance that was once the sole preserve of kings! Coinciding with the Premier’s visit the celebrated Golden Dragon has launched a delectable Sunday Dimsum brunch in his honour.

China & Taj

Taj’s association with China dates back to 1973, with the opening of India’s 1st Sichuan restaurant Golden Dragon at The Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai, followed by the launch of House of Ming at Taj Mahal Hotel, New Delhi in 1978. Since then we have been privileged to host several Chinese dignitaries including His Excellency Hu Jin Tao and His Excellency Wen Jiabao, Premiers of the People’s Republic in China, Ms. Wang, acclaimed Chinese classical pianist and several others. The Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai
