Seven countries’ air services agreements to be negotiated: Fiji

The Fijian government is considering reworking the air services agreements between it and Australia, India, China, the United States of America, Canada, Singapore and Kiribati, says local media.

In a report by the Fiji Times, Akuila Waradi, Director of Civil Aviation, stated he was interested in talking to these seven particular countries at the upcoming International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) meeting in Jamaica.

These seven markets are key destinations for the nation’s tourism market, and air links between these countries are a key factor in developing the sector.

Over 539,000 travellers visited Fiji in 2009, a drop of 7.8% when compared to the same 12 month period in 2008.
